Before Your Acupuncture Appointment
Try to arrive with a calm body and mind. Avoid scheduling strenuous activities immediately before or after your treatment. Allow yourself extra time so you are not rushing to or from your appointment, as stress and tension may interfere with your ability to fully relax during treatment.
What to Wear
Wear loose, comfortable clothing or bring athletic wear that allows easy access to the arms and legs. Depending on your treatment plan, your practitioner may need access to different areas of the body. Sheets and coverings are always provided to ensure your comfort and privacy.
Should You Eat Before Acupuncture?
Yes — it is best to have a light meal or snack before your appointment. Avoid coming in overly hungry or immediately after a heavy meal. You want your body to feel nourished and comfortable during treatment.
Hydration
Staying well hydrated before and after acupuncture is important for overall circulation and recovery. Drinking water can also help support your body’s natural healing processes and may help reduce fatigue after treatment.
Caffeine
We recommend avoiding caffeine, including coffee, tea, and energy drinks, for a few hours before your appointment. Caffeine stimulates the nervous system and may make it more difficult for the body to fully relax during treatment. It may also contribute to dehydration, so increasing water intake is encouraged.
Alcohol
Please avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your acupuncture appointment. It is also advisable to limit alcohol consumption for the remainder of the day after treatment, as some individuals may feel more sensitive to its effects following acupuncture.
